This is my all-time favourite versatile cake recipe. To make Chocolate cake,just add 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder and 2 tablespoons of milk. For Orange cake,just add 1/2 tablespoons of orange juice. Same goes for Pandan Cake,1 teaspoon of pandan extract and 2/3 drops of green food colouring.

Basic Butter Cake Recipe:

250gm Plain flour sifted together with 1 1/2tbsps Baking powder
250gm Castor sugar
250gm Butter/Margarine
5         Eggs
1tsp    Vanilla extract
2tbsp  Milk(optional)

1. Mix butter and sugar in electric mixer until pale and fluffy.
2. Add eggs one at a time until well mixed.
3. Put in vanilla extract.
4. Fold in flour a little at a time. Mix well.
5. Pour in a lined and buttered 22' round cake pan. Bake for 1 hour at 180C pre-heated oven.
